Data Deletion

This page gathers, in one place, how to remove what using Rapt leaves behind. What is stored where is set out in the Privacy Policy.

First: the operator holds nothing

Rapt has no sign-up and no sign-in, and there is no operator server holding what users write. There is therefore no data for you to ask the operator to delete. What follows is how to remove things yourself, from your own device and your own accounts.

Your writing — deleting it in the app

Deleting a piece of writing in the app moves it to the trash. Deleting it permanently from the trash removes it from both the device and iCloud, and it disappears on your other devices signed in to the same account.

Removing everything left on the device and in iCloud

Deleting the app removes the content stored on that device. Note, however, that content synced to iCloud remains in iCloud after the app is deleted — it stays visible on your other devices signed in to the same account, and it is restored if you reinstall the app.

To remove what is held in iCloud as well, go to your device settings:

Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage → Rapt → Delete

Disconnecting Threads

Tapping disconnect account inside the app deletes the access token stored on your device. That token lived only in your device's keychain from the start, and the operator has never held it.

To revoke the permission on the Threads side as well, remove Rapt from the connected-apps list in your Threads (or Instagram) account settings.

Rapt cannot delete posts already published to Threads — you must delete those in Threads directly.

The relay server used by spell checking and publishing

These two features send the relevant text out only when you run them yourself. The relay server only forwards; it neither stores nor logs the content, so nothing remains there to delete.
